Woman-Owned Heal Accounting Becomes Maine’s Only Sage Intacct ERP Software Certified Firm

Building In-House Capacity to Help Businesses Scale and Grow

Heal Accounting, a woman-owned and run certified public accounting (CPA) firm based in the Midcoast, today announced its formal accounting partnership with cloud-based enterprise resource planning (ERP) software company, Sage Intacct. This announcement makes the company the only CPA firm in the state to have this prestigious designation, which allows them to offer uniquely customized client accounting and advisory services (CAAS) for growing businesses.

“We’ve run into numerous scenarios where our customers have outgrown the capabilities of Quickbooks online accounting software and needed more robust reporting and tracking functionality to run their business successfully,” said Jodie Heal, CPA, MAFM, Owner and President of Heal Accounting. “By partnering with Sage Intacct, we now have the necessary tools to help our customers meet and expand on their growth goals.”

Utilizing Sage Intacct to Help Businesses Scale

Heal Accounting is currently working with a Brunswick electrical contractor that works with large industrial companies and is growing quickly with large shipping and infrastructure improvement contracts in progress. The company sought out Heal to help with automation of company accounting functions and competition analysis. After evaluating the company’s needs, Heal saw it as a great opportunity to install Sage-Intacct and free up time for estimating and servicing the company’s surge in business. To help them achieve their goals, the CPA firm built key performance dashboards, standardized general ledger accounts for quick industry benchmarking, and expedited approval processes while maintaining a high level of financial control and reporting accuracy. In particular, Sage Intacct’s highly customizable platform allows Heal to do comparisons on industry codes for profit tracking and then streamline accounting processes based on revenue and location.

“Today’s businesses need real-time data and reporting from their accounting systems,” continued Heal. “Our client is able to make timely business decisions and optimize operations based upon the advanced reporting available in Sage Intacct.”

Further Opportunities with Sage Intacct

With numerous accounting software options on the market, Heal spent a lot of time carefully reviewing all cloud financial systems before landing on Sage Intacct. The software stood out due to:

  • its best-in-class functionality;
  • being the first and only AICPA preferred financial management solution;
  • having deep functionality to streamline and automate complex financial processes;
  • having personalization features that can be customized by client; and
  • delivering unmatched insights into what’s driving company performance.

To be considered for accounting partner level, the Heal team had to write an in-depth business plan explaining their business needs and providing tangible examples of how they would serve their clients with the unique ERP software. Following submission, the Sage Intacct team worked closely with Heal Accounting to evaluate their readiness to deploy the software, ultimately deciding it was a good partnership to pursue. As a fully customizable software, prior to launching the Sage Intacct to its client, Heal spent three (3) months assessing internal change needs, learning how to use every part of the ERP, and testing. Today, the Heal team is focused on providing the right solutions to their clients by assessing their Sage Intacct needs and capabilities.

Company Origins and a Customized Approach to Accounting

As a small business based out of the Midcoast in South Thomaston, Heal is dedicated to providing a range of accounting and financial consulting services to their diverse portfolio of small- and medium-sized business and non-profit clients. Their experienced team of all women, partners with clients to serve as an outsourced finance department, streamline and automate bookkeeping and accounting processes, and implement real-time reporting to provide 24/7 business monitoring.
