The AICPA (American Institute of Certified Public Accountants) Governing Council is the ultimate decision-making body of the AICPA, a professional organization representing certified public accountants (CPAs) in the United States. The Governing Council is responsible for setting the AICPA’s overall goals and objectives, establishing policies, and making key decisions on matters that affect the accounting profession as a whole. It consists of representatives from various sectors of the profession, including public accounting firms, business and industry, government, education, and not-for-profit organizations.
The Council is the governing body of the AICPA and is comprised of approximately 265 members and representatives from every state and U.S. territory. Jodie Heal has been a member of the AICPA Governing Council since 2022.
